INHERITORS: The Nature of Keys
AC honors HCC's Horowitz Center’s 2016-2017 Theme: CHAOS
INHERITORS: The Nature of Keys
An Original Play -- JUNE 8 - 18, 2017
In HCC's Studio Theatre
Directed by S.G. KRAMER
Conceived by THE COMPANY
"We are the inheritors of a wonderful world, a beautiful world, full of life and mystery, goodness and pain. But likewise we are the children of an indifferent universe. We break our own hearts by imposing our moral order on what is, by nature, a wide web of chaos."
- Wildwood, Colin Meloy
Follow a writer’s inner struggle and creative process as she lives day to day in the world as we now know it, realizing her responsibilities as an artist and to herself.
An original work conceived by ten artists – all are survivors, fighters, and believers. Our whirling, deeply flawed world galvanized the subject. With open eyes and open hearts, these artists take action by giving voice to some of what matters most to them. In the space of one performance, travelers (you, the audience) experience the story’s layers of smoke-screens, truths and distractions by walking through doors held wide open or locked tight Perhaps you hold the key.

About "Inheritors" Process, AC's Original Works Process & History:
o Chaos is where great dreams begin, and Arts Collective will bring you quite a daydream with their ground breaking original devised work. The collective alchemy of the cast and artistic team will shape this new and innovative work from the ground up.
o Stories… Giving voice to the very things we all have inherited. "Inheritors..." was born out of the Company’s collective background as artists in a deeply flawed nation and world. It was born out of anger and frustration and despair, but grew through our desire to see the world with open eyes and open hearts, to not be discouraged by current events, but to do something about them if they make us angry. Art does not always have to reflect the world as it is, but we felt the call to speak, act, and move upon a number of issues that we feel most affected by. We cannot possibly hope to address every crisis in the world, every hurt inflicted upon our communities - here and abroad, but we feel as artists we have a responsibility to motivate ourselves and hopefully others to keep making art, even when we feel powerless and voiceless.
About AC's Original Works Process:
AC’s unique original works process (this is our 7th+) are absolutely our favorite, most artistically fulfilling projects!
o AC’s original productions are developed during the rehearsal process via rehearsed improv, music, movement, and more… with the ENTIRE company! A process which has been celebrated as magical, exciting, artistically fulfilling!
o A Work in Progress: Our original works are works in progress, developed throughout the rehearsal process… however, once a story-line is decided, characters gelled - the production is “set in stone”.
o Scenes within our original productions may be scripted, however, many require simple outlines, with little to no memorization. This tried and true formula has served our processes magically and beautifully.
