**Before applying for a Summer 2011 loan, determine if you have any remaining loan eligibility for the 2010-2011 school year.**
If you believe that you do have remaining loan eligibility for 2010-11, continue with the loan application process. Counselors will process your loan application and determine your actual loan eligibility based on federal guideline. In order to borrow a Summer student loan follow each of the six (6) steps below. Step 1 Complete the financial aid application process on the "How to Apply" page. This includes completing the 2010-2011 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). Click here to be directed to this page. In order for Financial Aid Services to receive your FAFSA results you must be admitted to HCC and have a Social Security Number (SSN) on file with Admissions and Advising. Please sure to list HCC as a school on your FAFSA (code 008175). Make sure your financial aid file is complete and all documents requested by Financial Aid Services (such as verification or missing information) have been reviewed. Step 2 Registered and actively attending (if classes have begun) a minimum of six (6) credits. All loan borrowers are required to officially register for classes each semester by the census date (see HCC schedule of classes for specific dates). Step 3 Click here to complete your Entrance Counseling. You will need to ‘sign in’ using your PIN number. Click here if you forgot your PIN or need a new one. Once you have signed in select “complete entrance counseling.” Make sure you complete all steps and list Howard Community College as your school. After you have completed your entrance counseling you will have an option to print a verification. Make sure you print a copy of your entrance counseling results for a financial aid counselor to review. If you have already completed your entrance counseling and forgot to print it click here. Once you have signed in using your PIN, select “view previously completed counseling.” If you are having trouble accessing this site, please click here for site requirements. Step 4 "Thank you for submitting the MPN." Print page 1 only of the PDF version of your MPN to bring with you to the counselor. If you have already completed your MPN and forgot to print it click here. Once you have signed in using your PIN, select “completed MPNs” and print page 1 of the “view PDF.” If you are having trouble accessing this site, please click here for site requirements. Step 5 Click here to complete your loan worksheet. Make sure all answers are complete and you print this form out. You will need this when you see a financial aid counselor. Step 6 When the steps above are complete, sign in to meet with a financial aid counselor who will determine your loan eligibility. Make sure you bring your loan application, entrance counseling results, and a copy of your MPN with you. Financial Aid counselors are available Monday-Thursday. Click here to see hours available. |
