**Before applying for a Summer 2011 loan, determine if you have any remaining loan eligibility for the 2010-2011 school year.**

  • Sign into HCC Express
  • Click on “My Financial Aid Status by Term”
  • Check for subsidized and unsubsidized loan amounts for Fall 2010 and Winter/Spring 2011.  Add the amounts together. (Note:  if you attended other schools during 2010-11, you have to include any subsidized and unsubsidized loans you received at those schools in your total.)
  • Next, in HCCExpress, click on Transcript and then click to view a copy of your unofficial transcript.  Check to see how many earned credits you have.
  • Check the following chart to see if you have any remaining loan eligibility for the 2010-2011 school year.

In order to borrow a Summer student loan follow each of the six (6) steps below.

Step 1

Complete the financial aid application process on the "How to Apply" page.  This includes completing the 2010-2011 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).  Click here to be directed to this page.

In order for Financial Aid Services to receive your FAFSA results you must be admitted to HCC and have a Social Security Number (SSN) on file with Admissions and Advising.  Please sure to list HCC as a school on your FAFSA (code 008175).

Make sure your financial aid file is complete and all documents requested by Financial Aid Services (such as verification or missing information) have been reviewed.
