National Science Foundation (NSF) Science & Technology Scholarship
Howard Community College's National Science Foundation (NSF) Science & Technology Scholarship Program is designed to encourage, mentor, and support full-time students majoring in any of the following academic areas:
- Bioinformatics
- Biotechnology
- Computer Science
- Engineering
- Environmental Science
- Life Sciences
- Mathematics
- Physical Sciences
Scholarships will be awarded for up to two years beginning in Fall 2008. New and current HCC students are eligible to apply. Scholarships vary in amount up to $6000 per year and can be used for tuition, fees, books, supplies, equipment and other needs. Scholarship recipients will be part of a learning community. Each will be assigned a faculty mentor and participate in a range of activities related to their major.
Please note: Students qualifying for an NSF scholarship may also apply for financial adi and other scholarships.
Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must:
- Be U.S. citizen, Permanent Resident, or non-U.S. citizens in refugees or asylee statuses
- Have financial need (as defined for undergraduate students by the U.S. Department of Education rules for Federal Financial Aid)
- Enroll full-time (12 or more credits)
- Have a 2.8 or higher grade point average (GPA)
- Agree to participate in a one-credit seminar per term and other program activities.
