Transfer F1 StudentsHow to transfer to Howard Community College as an F1 student
- Submit all F1 application materials (including completed Transfer Eligibility Form) to Howard Community College by the appropriate deadline (see below). Upon verifying that the application is complete, we will issue the student an acceptance letter to HCC.
- The student will take the acceptance letter to the international advisor at their current school. The international advisor will then transfer the I-20 to Howard Community College. Your transfer is not complete until your I-20 is transferred by your current school.
- Upon receiving the transferred I-20, an I-20 from Howard Community College will be prepared and the student is officially accepted to HCC.
F1 Application and Instructions
Transfer students already in the U.S. must fulfill all application requirements by June 30th for the Fall semester and by November 15th for the Spring semester. Admission requirements for degree and certificate programs include submission of:
- Application for Admission to Certificate and Degree Programs for International (F1) Students and $50 non-refundable application fee.
- Language proficiency requirement - F1 transfer students are required to complete one of the following:
- Successful completion of the equivalent of ENGL 121 at another U.S. college or university
- Howard Community College's placement exam (placement into ENGL 086 or higher is required for admission)
- Certification of Finances form, bank statements, and statements of support must verify that students can pay for their academic and living expenses before they can be admitted. These costs are currently $23,800* for a year of study (*costs subject to change).

- Official secondary school transcripts and/or diploma.
- Official college or university transcripts. Students seeking transfer credit must have their overseas transcripts evaluated by a transcript evaluation agency.
- Proof of health insurance for care in the United States (students will obtain insurance during their first semester at HCC).
