Early Admissions Option

The Early Admissions Option enables high school seniors to complete high school graduation requirements by attending Howard Community College full-time during their senior year under very specific circumstances:

  • Students are generally required to take and successfully complete 24-30 college credits, including at least one college-level English composition course.
  • Students must contact their high school guidance office or other appropriate high school offices for:
  • Instructions and consent to participate in this option -  Schools generally require students to complete apply for the Early Admission option during their junior year.
  • Information about specific courses needed to fulfill high school graduation requirements.
  • HCC Early Admissions procedures include:
  • Complete and submit the standard application for admission (online / PDF version) (not the Early Entrance Program application) and the application fee. 
  • Also submit:
    • high school transcripts
    • college entrance exam scores
    • proof of residency
    • Two letters of recommendation that discuss your academic ability and social and emotional maturity.
    • Letter of consent from the high school principal or other authorized high school or school official.
  • Arrange an admissions interview by contacting the Office of Admissions and Advising at hsinfo@howardcc.edu or 410-772-4599.
  • HCC’s Office of Admissions and Advising staff welcomes the opportunity to help students with admissions procedures and provide academic advising related to the college’s learning programs and courses.

We recommend that you carefully the compare the benefits of the Early Admissions Option with those of the Early Entrance Program.  Talk with your guidance counselor, a parent or guardian.  Also talk with an HCC admissions counselor at your school or on campus.
