Nursing TestingClinical Nursing Admission Assessment
Admission to the clinical portion of all nursing programs at HCC requires successful completion of a Clinical Nursing Admission Assessment. The test and its fee differ by clinical program. Both tests are computer-based.
Applicants to the Accelerated RN, Traditional RN, and LPN programs will take the Evolve Clinical Nursing Admission Assessment (A2). Applicants to the LPN Pathways program will take the Acceleration Challenge Exam I. Please see below for more information on the related tests, and information session dates.
Students must achieve a specified composite score on the tests to fulfill this component of the programs' application requirements. Students are strongly encouraged to see an academic advisor (RCF-242) regarding this requirement.
Please note that applicants who have not completed a U.S. bachelor's degree from an accredited institution are still required to complete the English placement test, regardless of prior completion of college-level English. These scores are valid for two years.

Evolve Clinical Nursing Admission Assessment (A2)
Beginning with the 2010 clinical year, applicants to the clinical portion of the Accelerated RN, Traditional RN, and LPN programs must successfully complete the Evolve Clinical Nursing Admission Assessment (A2) in order to qualify for admission. This requirement is in addition to GPA and prerequisite course requirements. Special information sessions will be held throughout the year.

Approximately 5 hours are allotted for students to complete this computer-based exam, which tests knowledge in English, math, and science. A list of suggested study topics is available online. The HCC Bookstore will carry a study book for purchase; copies are also available in the Transfer Center (RCF-242) and the HCC Library for use within these facilities.
Exam Registration: The exam will be given on specific dates throughout the year; students must complete the appropriate forms (see links below) and pay the testing fee in advance. The non-refundable testing fee will be $25 through February 15; the fee is subject to an increase after that date. Students who do not attend on their scheduled testing date are subject to repaying the testing fee for a subsequent test registration.
Space is limited; students must register no later than one week before the test date and are encouraged to test as soon as possible. To register, fill out the forms below and submit them, along with payment, to the Office of Admissions and Advising:
