This curriculum prepares students to transfer to an Elementary Education or Elementary Special Education program at a four-year college or university in the state of Maryland. The Associate of Arts in Teaching (A.A.T.) degree has been articulated with all of the transfer programs in Elementary Education and Elementary Special Education in the state of Maryland. Students who receive the A.A.T. degree must have a cumulative GPA of 2.75 and pass the Praxis I exam. Upon completion of the A.A.T. degree, students are eligible to be admitted as an Elementary Education or Elementary Special Education major at their Maryland transfer institution.

Students in the Teacher Education Transfer Program are required to submit scores from Praxis I: Academic Skills Assessments to the Social Sciences Division prior to the completion of the 30th credit hour. The exam assesses basic reading, writing, and mathematics skills. Scores from Praxis I are used for admission to four-year Teacher Education programs and are required for Teacher Certification in Maryland and most other states. Maryland passing scores for Praxis I are currently 177 in Math, 177 in Reading, and 173 in Writing, or a total composite score of 527.
