This curriculum is designed for students planning to transfer to a four-year institution to complete a bachelor’s degree in Bioinformatics. This new program melds the fields of biological sciences and technology so that data, its discovery, manipulation, storage, and extension can be accomplished. The emphasis is on the use and handling of data. Technical development will include basic knowledge of programming languages, databases and Internet. Graduates would find careers in pharmaceutical and biotechnology industries. Students should be familiar with the curriculum requirements of the institution to which they intend to transfer. The program will include concentration on general studies, biological foundations, and computer science.GENERAL EDUCATION CORE (General education core credits in excess of 36 will
transfer as general electives or courses related to the major. Each student’s total of general education and required courses must equal at least 60 semester hours of credit.)
