NUTR-211 NutritionThis course focuses on the basic concepts of nutrition and the application of nutritional principles to wellness across the lifespan. It will provide students with a general understanding of nutrition and health, the functions and importance of fats, carbohydrates, proteins, vitamins, and minerals, and the relationship between nutrition and exercise in weight management. Students will complete a detailed computerized dietary analysis project. (3 hours weekly)

NUTR-212 Food: Science and Technology
3 credits
This course is designed to introduce students to the basic chemical, physical, and microbiological aspects of food and the integration of basic sciences in the food industry. Students will examine the scientific, technical, and practical aspects involved with the harvest, storage, manufacture, preservation, packaging, distribution, and marketing of food products. Discussion of current food controversies and scientific literature will be integrated throughout the course. (3 hours weekly)
