
PROGRAM Howard Community College in Columbia, MD offers a Study Abroad Program that will cover the buildup to and major events of World War II. The focus of the course will be on the military engagements analyzing how the war was fought on the battlefield. Also, there will be emphasis on the home front and how the war affected non-combatants in Europe. Finally, the course will focus on the victims of the war with a special emphasis on the Holocaust itself. Five class sessions will be held at HCC prior to departure and ten days will be spent in Europe. SCHEDULE There will be five class sessions (once a week for three hours each session) at HCC prior to the program departure. Dates for these sessions are February 26, March 5, 12, 19 and 26. The program itself: Schedule is subject to change depending on prices and entrance availability. CREDITS Issues in History- HIST-202 (3 Credits). The student will be able to describe the major steps leading up to the beginning of the Second World War. Also, the student will be able to explain the major military engagements of the Second World War and its impact on the home front. Finally the student will be able to evaluate the impact of the war on Europe and the United States. Prerequisite: ENGL-121 DETAILS The cost of the program (not including the cost of taking courses for credit) is $2,900*. The $2,900* cost includes: • Round trip airfare to and from Paris * HCC reserve the right to increase the cost of the Program Fee up to 10% due to increased program costs, flight costs, and/or currency fluctuations. The Program is subject to modification and cancellation at the discretion of HCC.
