France-Art Studio Study Abroad

PROGRAM

Howard Community College in Columbia, Maryland is pleased to offer a Study Abroad program in Provence France with the opportunity to earn college credit while living and creating art that reflects the landscape in self-catering apartments in the beautiful Luberon Mountains of Provence.

The program is open to students and community members on either a credit or non-credit basis. Note that all participants, including those taking the program for non-credit are expected to participate in all activities of the program. The program is designed to have a balance of planned and open time to allow participants to visit and explore the beautiful towns of Provence.

MISSION STATEMENT OF THE PROGRAM:

The purpose of this workshop is to allow each individual to experience painting or drawing the landscape under the guidance of the artist, Professor Peter Collier. An honest and encouraging critique of the individual’s artwork will address the strengths and weaknesses in regards to their work in order to maximize the student’s skills and abilities to facilitate the learning experience.

There will be group and individual critiques offered. The medias used on the trip can be oil, watercolor, pastel, charcoal or pencil.

SCHEDULE

The actual daily schedule is dependant on the weather.  It is usual and expected that each participant work on their landscape in their desired media at least 9 of the 14 days.  A work session is based on the participants expectations.  Credit students will be supplied with a written syllabus for this program.
