Overall Course Objectives
Upon completion of this course the student will be able to:
Describe the role nutrition and weight management play in health & wellness
Gain an understanding of the basic concepts of nutrition.
Be able to describe the function and sources of proteins, carbohydrates, fats, vitamins,minerals, and fiber.
Be able to analyze the dietary composition of an individual's diet, recommend necessary improvements, and develop a plan of action to implement those changes.

Course Format
- Course is not self-paced. All assignments, quizzes, and exams have specific dates of completion.
- Does not require on-campus meetings,except for orientationand it may have proctored exams in the HCC Test Center. (For more information, see the "Exam" section below.)
- Does not require real-time chats
- The communications will take place through e-mail and scheduled posted threaded discussion questions (weekly)

Course Requirements
Review the “What you should know before you register” section of the Distance Learning home page.
Three exams and a final examination are administered. All examinations are multiple choice, true-false, and matching.
A dietary analysis of your eating behaviors, eating habits and content will be completed.
Student must be dedicated to practicing the relaxation techniques described in the textbook. (Feedback from the practiced technique of the previous week is expected.)
A behavior workbook will be completed in which the student will determine a behavior to change and complete steps towards that end.

Exams
For purposes of verification and assessing learning outcomes, this course may have online testing or proctored exams at the HCC Test Center for students in the local region or at a regional institution for remote students. The exam will have a flexible window of time during which it needs to be taken rather than a single date and time.
