CMSY 126 Introduction to Internet - Online

After successful completion of this course, the student will be able to use the Internet to perform simple searches, use e-mail features and post to newsgroups. Familiarity with a computer and file management skills are strongly recommended before enrolling in this course. This course may be completed in fewer than 14 weeks. All of the work for this course (except the one test) may be done outside of class. Credit will only be granted for one of the following: CMSY-126 or CMSY-129.

Upon completion of this course, the student will be able to:

  • Perform basic Windows operations associated with the Internet.
  • Use the different parts of the browser window.
  • Use various Internet search engines.
  • Use e-mail features.

Course Format

  • The syllabus lists course requirements.
  • This schedule is posted in the learning management system and is available for students all semester.
  • No on-campus meetings are required.  However, this course does require on-campus attendance for tests.  The test may be taken during any open hours in the Office Technology classroom.  Please note, however, that all CMSY 126 students are welcome to come to the Office Technology classroom to do classwork and/or to receive personal help from an instructor.
  • Real-time chats are not required.
  • Modules will contain course instructions.
  • Communications will take place through the canvas learning management system.

Exams

For purposes of verification and assessing learning outcomes, this course has one theory exam, which has a deadline for completion.  The exam must be taken at the college during any open hours in the Office Technology classroom.
