Beginning with the prenatal period and continuing through old age, development from a physical, intellectual, social and emotional perspective will be studied. Theories on development and current research in the field will be reviewed with an emphasis on application of individual case histories and personal experiences. This course meets the Maryland State Department of Education Child Development requirement for an initial certificate in Early Childhood Education, Elementary Education, and Secondary Education.
