Girl Scouts of Central Maryland One Time Volunteer Opportunities

The following opportunities are offered by the Girl Scouts of Central Maryland.  If you are interested in participating, please contact their volunteerism department at volunteerservices@gscm.org or 410-358-9711 ext. 219 for more information.

Volunteer Requests:

In School Program Specialist: 10 volunteers needed to facilitate hour long in-school programs, one hour weekly for as many as six weeks or as little as one.  Some travel, will train.

Troop leaders: Troop leaders are needed for ALL GRADE levels in Baltimore City, troops have not yet formed so scheduling is flexible.

Facilitator for Adult Learning Team: As a member of the team, you will empower other adults to learn through our council sponsored trainings and workshops.  Prior training experience is helpful, but not necessary.  With the support of experienced facilitators, GSCM will teach you all you need to know.

Spanish Interpreter: Occasionally, GSCM has requests for someone to help girls and adults with translating at events and trainings.  GSCM is in need of volunteers throughout the council who would be willing to volunteer their time to assist with these requests.

STEM Volunteers: GSCM needs volunteers to teach STEM programming.  If you have a STEM background of any kind we will provide tools and training.  Help them excite girls about the many STEM careers available to them!

Service Unit Members: Do you enjoy working with and leading others?  This role allows you to lead and serve hundreds of girls at once.  Training provided.  Must be 18 years of age and pass a background check.  Commitment of 5-7 hours per week, one meeting a month.

Sign Language Interpreter: Occasionally, GSCM has requests for someone to help girls and adults with hearing impairments at events and trainings.  They are in need of volunteers throughout the council who would be willing to volunteer their time to assist with those requests.  Please indicate in which counties you'd be able to assist.

Data Entry volunteer: Work with our database to update, maintain, and assist with our clean up.  This is a great way for someone who likes databases to help us out in a huge way.  Help out any time during busy hours and on days that fit your schedule.  This project will require 10-20 hours.

Beyond Bars: Beyond Bars is located at the Maryland Correction Institution for Women.  This nationally acclaimed program that allows girls to share time with their incarcerated mother twice a month during Girl Scout troop meetings held at the prison.  Troop leader and co-troop leaders are needed for 2 Beyond Bars troops (4 volunteers total).  Meetings are held the first and third Saturday of every month from 10:45am-1:30pm.  Background check required.
