To be invited to join Phi Theta Kappa, students must accumulate a minimum of 12 credits in 100- and 200-level courses and obtain at least a 3.5 cumulative GPA in those courses.
Invitations to join the chapter are typically issued by the fourth week each major semester, which occurs during October in the fall and March in the spring. Invitations are sent via email to the eligible student's HCC email. To remain in the honor society, graduate with Phi Theta Kappa honors and receive the Phi Theta Kappa membership denotation on one's transcript, students must maintain a 3.5 cumulative GPA in their college-level courses.
Induction ceremonies are held annually to formally celebrate the accomplishments of new members. Participation in the annual induction ceremony is optional and does not impact one's membership status in the honor society.
If you believe that you meet the eligibility criteria, but did not receive an invitation to join Phi Theta Kappa during the second full month of a spring or fall term, please email PTK@howardcc.edu and provide your full name and student ID number in the body of the email.
