In September 2008, the Child Care Career and Professional Development Fund (CCCPDF) Grant was awarded to Howard Community College.   Assistance for books, tuition and fees are provided under the terms of this grant for approved, credentialed child care workers who attend Howard Community College to pursue their associate’s degree in one of the following areas of study:

  • Early Childhood Development AAS
  • Early Childhood Education AAT

Some stipulations are held to grantees.  Grantee must:

  • maintain a 2.75 GPA while receiving the grant,
  • continue to work in child care (full-time or part-time) while receiving this grant,
  • work in child care following graduation (full-time or part-time) for a period equal to the degree, i.e.: 2-year degree = 2 year payback (if student currently attends HCC, a formula of service payback will be applied).

This grant may be employed for the time spent at HCC only.  It does not transfer with the student to a 4-year college/university.  Student may continue to apply for the CCCPDF when transferring to an institution that has been awarded the CCCPDF Grant.  The following link provides information on the 2 and 4-year schools which are currently participating in this program:
