The basis of CAAHEP Accreditation is a program's ability to meet the specific set of standards and guidelines adopted by the CAAHEP Board of Directors for the profession. The standards and guidelines for each profession accredited by CAAHEP are developed through the work of the relevant Committee on Accreditation (CoA) and their sponsoring organization(s): http://www.caahep.org/about/aboutcaahep.htm.
How many students are accepted each year?
Currently we are accredited for a total of 30 students.
Is there a September as well as a January intake?
No, the new classes begin in the spring semester, which starts at the end of January.
When is the deadline for applications?
January 15th.
May I still apply after the deadline?
Yes, but depending upon the number of applications, there may not be any spaces available.
When will admission decisions be made available?
By mid January.

May I complete the program on a part-time basis?
The program is set up for working people; the first two CARD classes are scheduled in the spring semester, early evening; Summer 1 consists of two afternoons a week; the fall semester is full time, four days a week.
Can I complete the program online?
Not at this time, but several of the CVT courses have an online component.
How long is each semester?
Spring and fall semesters each run 15 weeks; summer, 7 weeks; January intersession, 4 weeks.
When does clinical experience begin?
First spring semester: a total of four days during the semester;
Fall semester: two days a week;
January intersession: five days a week;
Second spring semester: four days a week.
May I choose where I do my clinical training?
We take into consideration where you live, however we cannot promise any specific clinical sites.
Does this program have a fast-track option?
No.
Do students get paid during clinicals?
No, not unless you are hired by a particular clinical facility.

Can prerequisites be taken concurrently with the program?
It is recommended that all prerequisites be taken prior to the program.
Do you accept credits from other institutions? If so, what do I need to do?

Are there other schools in your area that offer this program?
HCC has the only accredited program in the state of Maryland.
