Intent on expanding students' perspectives on health to a global level, Jeanette developed the health education option entitled International and Cross Cultural Health. In the spring of 2006, Jeanette collaborated with Dr. James Tielsch from the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health in developing and teaching "Introduction to Cross-Cultural and International Health" at HCC. This course has been selected by Johns Hopkins as a global model of an undergraduate international health course. Jeanette's strong commitment to both international health and service learning has been recognized and supported by HCC, enabling her to travel and study with students and colleagues to Costa Rica, Switzerland, Mexico, the Dominican Republic, and areas of the U.S. hardest hit by Hurricane Katrina. Jeanette is also very active within the college community, serving as an academic advisor to students and as a member of HCC's First Year Experience Advisory Board, the HCC Center for Service Learning Advisory Board, the HCC International Curriculum Advisory Board, and the Food Service Advisory Board.
