In ENGL-085, students will develop the listening and speaking skills needed to succeed at an American college. Class work will consist of pronunciation practice, listening activities, small group and class discussions of selected readings and lectures, and oral presentations and simulations of aspects of academic life. Students who place into both ENGL-086 and ENGL-087 are required to take ENGL-085. Students can be exempted from this requirement by passing an oral exam. (3 hours weekly)
