Dr. Vifansi, an applied linguist, joined the English faculty at Howard Community College in August 2001. Dr. Vifansi has a diverse background in teaching. He taught English language and literature in Cameroon high schools from 1973 to 1987. From 1987 to 1996 Dr. Vifansi worked as an inspector of English pedagogy for the Ministry of National Education in Cameroon—advising the minister on English language teaching issues, developing and evaluating English language and literature curricula, supervising high school teachers of English, and training and certifying teachers at the advanced teachers’ college (Ecole Normale Superieure) in Yaounde, Cameroon.

In the U.S.A., Dr. Vifansi taught a wide range of writing courses as a visiting instructor at Indiana Purdue University Fort Wayne, and as a graduate assistant at Purdue University, West Lafayette. He also served as Acting Director of the Writing Center at IPFW and as Coordinator of the ESL Section of the Purdue University Writing Laboratory.

At Howard Community College, besides teaching, Dr. Vifansi serves on several committees and participates in the Step Up program. Dr. Vifansi relishes working with hard-working developmental students, while challenging all his students to fully develop their potentials.
