Sandy began teaching at HCC in 1994 as an adjunct faculty member; she has been teaching full-time since 2000. Her field of expertise is developmental reading, and she is especially interested in creating activities to enhance and reinforce reading and study skills. She was asked by the ESL Coordinator to modify ENGL 106 to meet the needs of ESL students, especially those enrolled in the English Language Institute, and has taught designated ESL sections of the course for several semesters.
Active within the college community, Sandy leads the English Placement Team and is a Freshman Focus advisor. She is a member of the Developmental Education Committee, the FYE Faculty Learning Committee, the FYE Advisory Board and the Readmit Committee. She serves as the faculty representative for Financial Aid Appeals Hearings and is a Step Up coach.
