Professor Madden began teaching as an adjunct faculty member in at HCC in 1987 and became a full time member of the English/World Languages Division in 1991. Since that time, she has taught a wide variety of composition and literature classes. Combining her enthusiasm for both literature and ethics, she created the Ethics in Literature course, which has expanded to six sections each semester. Theresa began and coordinates the Ethics across the Curriculum Program, which prepares ethics events each year for faculty and students. She has presented at national conferences concerning the EAC Program at HCC, as well as developing a faculty resource manual and online materials for ethics in the curriculum. In this role, she has partnered with the business department to create material in ethics/literature/business.
Professor Madden has served on the sabbatical leave committee, the library committee, the faculty development advisory board, the information literacy committee, and the UMBC English Advisory Board, and chaired the English Placement Team. She has also been active in many search committees and outcomes assessment projects and as a peer partner, faculty mentor, and course leader for college composition and for introduction to literature.
