About Certifications

Overview
HCC strives to maintain current and relevant course offerings.  We research industry trends and survey businesses, students, instructors, and organizations such as CompTIA and Microsoft to determine employer and industry needs. State-of-the-art equipment, quality instruction, approved course curriculum, and hands-on experience prepare students for successful entry into the IT employment market.

Earn College Credit While Earning Certification
All certification courses are offered for college credit that can be applied toward A.A. degrees. In addition, students can earn industry-recognized certifications. In today's market, most employers prefer employees who have a degree or are working toward getting a degree. As the courses are offered for credit, students may qualify for financial aid, VA benefits, and employer reimbursements for education

Convenient
Most of the courses are offered in a six-week format to allow students to take two related courses a semester. Courses are offered in the evenings for convenience, with some day and weekend classes also available.  For details on specific course offering dates, please check the Schedule of Classes.

No Boot Camp
Don't be confused! This is no boot camp. HCC offers significant hands-on training which allows students to apply and reinforce concepts learned in the classroom. Students don't just memorize material to pass certification exams, they have the opportunity to practice "real-world" job-related tasks so they have an understanding of what they are learning. Our programs offer more contact hours than do most other training providers in the state. This allows our students to gain significantly more information and to apply the information they have learned.

Quality Instructors
HCC certification instructors are certified and have current IT field experience. They apply this knowledge in the classroom to prepare students for the workplace.

HCC Career Services
All HCC students can access the services of the Career and Counseling Office which helps students connect with employers.

Offered Training Since 1992
HCC has delivered computer, network, and internetwork certification curriculum since 1992, longer than any college or university in the mid-Atlantic region, and longer than almost all private sector corporate seminar certification programs.  As a Microsoft IT Academy,  the student is assured of the very highest academic standards taught by certified instructors using authorized instructional materials. HCC is also a Regional Cisco Academic Academy, and a CompTIA Recognized Training Provider.
