MCP Certification Overview

The Microsoft Certified Professional (MCP) credential is for professionals who have the skills to successfully implement a Microsoft product or technology as part of a business solution in an organization. Hands-on experience with a product is necessary to successfully achieve certification. MCP status can be achieved by passing one product exam on Microsoft's approved list and certifies expertise on a specific product. You earn MCP status after passing each exam and earn more prestigious certifications by passing a combination of Microsoft exams.

MCSA Certification Overview

The Microsoft Certified Systems Administrator (MCSA) on Windows Server 2003 credential shows professionals you have the skills to successfully manage and troubleshoot system environments running on a Windows Server 2003 operating system. MCSA status can be achieved by passing three core exams and one elective exam.  If you have passed both CompTIA’s A+ and Network+ or CompTIA’s A+ and Server+ exams, you can substitute them for the Microsoft elective.  You may also substitute CompTIA's Security+ exam for the MCSA elective.
