Cisco Certification OverviewCisco certification ensures high standards of technical expertise. Achieving Cisco certification means joining the ranks of skilled network professionals who have earned recognition in the industry. Howard Community College is a Cisco Networking Academy.
The Cisco Networking Academy Program provides the opportunity for two levels of certification:
Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA);
Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP).
In addition to CCNA and CCNP certification training, HCC offers classes in:

Fundamentals of Wireless LANs and
IP Telephony
CSCO-690, Fundamentals of Wireless LANs prepares students to apply the principles of wireless data communications, protocols and standards related to Wireless Local Area Networking (WLAN). Course topics include: RF transmission, propagation, WLAN frequency bands, characteristics and uses of wireless network devices, compare and contrast with standard "wired" network device and WLAN implementation. Students will have hands-on experience in building, configuring, securing and troubleshooting basic and extended WLANs. Students will be qualified to administer and support different brands of wireless LAN hardware. This course prepares students to sit for Cisco Wireless LAN Specialist (WLANFE) and/or Cisco Wireless LAN Design Specialist (WLANSE) certifications. CSCO-905, Cisco IP Telephony will focus on installing, maintaining, configuring, or supporting the rollout of Cisco IP telephony products. Course prepares students to build an IP telephony campus solution and build a multisite WAN IP telephony solution with a distributed call processing network. This course prepares students to sit for one of the Cisco IP Telephony Support Specialist exams, CIPT-642-444. For exam information, click on the exam number in the table below.
CSCO-907, Advanced Cisco IP Telephony, will focus on advanced Voice over IP topics including MGCP, H.323, and SIP protocols. Also included will be Unity Voice Mail Server configuration and advanced Call Manager topics including AAR, SRST, QoS, CRS and advanced Dial Plans. Students will configure Cisco Unity Express Routers, Directory Gatekeepers, Gatekeepers, and Gateways. This course prepares students to troubleshoot converged voice/data networks. This course prepares students on topics relevant to the Cisco CCIE Voice written and lab exam.
