Dr. Ae-Young Sun began violin studies at the age of ten. She received her Bachelor of Music degree from theYon-Sei University under Soo Yeon Kim. She continued her violin studies at the New England Conservatory of Music where she received her Master of Music Degree and Graduate Diploma as a scholarship student of Eric Rosenblith. Ae-Young Sun earned her Doctor of Musical Arts degree from the University of Maryland College Park studying with David Salness.

Dr. Sun gave her New York debut recital at Carnegie Weill Recital Hall in 2006.  She has given many solo and chamber music recitals in the United States, Italy, and in her native country, as well as performed with the Yon-Sei University Orchestra and the Yanacek Philharmonic Orchestra. As an orchestral musician, she was a member of the Asian Youth Orchestra on their tours of Asia, Canada and the west coast of the United States under the direction of Sergiu Comissiona. She has also participated in the Meadowmount Music Festival, Oberlin Music Festival in Casalmaggiore, Italy, and the National Orchestral Institute.  She has served as concertmaster of the Yon-Sei University Orchestra and University of Maryland Symphony Orchestra.

Dr. Sun is a founding member of the Dramón String Quartet and the Han Piano Trio, which have performed many recitals throughout the Washington, D.C. area. Her principal teachers include David Kim, Arnold Steinhardt, and Nurit Bar-Josef. Currently, Dr. Sun serves as a member of the violin faculty at Howard Community College and as a member of the Fairfax Symphony Orchestra.
