It is necessary to achieve the following four phases in a peer leader training workshop:

Peer Leader Agreement
Howard Community College
First-Year Experience (FYE) Peer Leader Agreement
The following are expectations of the FYE Peer Leader regarding relationships and task issues.
The Peer Leader will:
a) Maintain confidentiality regarding information shared between the Peer Leader, students and instructor. Discuss problematic and critical concerns expressed by the students with the instructor;
b) Always be a role model for the students in and out of the academic environment;
c) Assist in presenting classroom activities; actively participate with ideas and suggestions; and attend all scheduled planning/evaluation sessions with the instructor;
d) Inform students of HCC resources that would be helpful to them;
e) Work up to 5 hours a week. Keep track of that time and complete a timesheet to turn into the LAC on the 15th and the last day of each month;
f) Email Margaret Garroway mgarroway@howardcc.edu at least once every pay period to let her know how your experience is going;
g) Share current activities on campus with instructor and students;
h) Report any student potential crisis situation or individual dilemmas to instructor or Margaret Garroway. Do not try to solve serious problems by yourself;
i) Maintain a positive attitude and enjoy your peer leadership.
