Request Funding for Your Event

The diversity committee has a limited budget available to help support on-campus events, programs, lectures, presentations and related activities, which further the objectives, goals, and mission of the committee. All faculty, staff, and students (pending advisor approval) may submit proposals to the diversity committee. However, applicants, including members of the Diversity Committee may not submit proposals which would provide personal financial benefit.

The Diversity Committee will consider requests for funding with one or more of the following goals:

  • To provide a forum to engage members of the campus community in issues of diversity,
  • To celebrate various aspects of diversity,
  • To promote awareness of the benefits of diversity to the college community, or
  • To further the objectives, goals, and mission of the college diversity committee, as set forth in the diversity plan.

Requirements:

All proposals should be submitted at least 6-8 weeks prior to the event and should include:

  1. The funding request form
  2. An itemized budget of projected expenses, including expenses for honoraria, refreshments, speaker accommodations, transportation, advertising, and mailings. The proposal must also identify other sources of funding and the amount received.
  3. A description of the event, program, or activity.
  4. Promotional materials and/or plans for publicity.
  5. Backgrounds and credentials of presenters, performers, speakers, etc.
  6. A statement which identifies how the program, event, or activity contributes to diversity as defined in the college’s diversity plan and/or diversity committee policies and procedures.

The diversity committee will use the following criteria to evaluate your request:

  • The contribution to diversity and diversity awareness;
  • The probable interest of the program to the college community and/or a wider audience;
  • Appropriateness of the program to the targeted audience;
  • The clarity of the request for funding;
  • Availability of funds, amount requested, and other sources of funding secured.

Processing Your Request:

Submitting a request does not guarantee funding. The diversity committee will consider each request based on the criteria and requirements outlined in this document. All proposals will be returned to the requester within 2-4 weeks of receiving completed request forms and documentation.
