Dr. Mary Beth TungMary Tung was appointed to the board of trustees in July 2003 for a six-year term that expires in 2009. She is Director of the Patents Division of Conwell, LLC. Dr. Tung is in charge of establishing and maintaining the patent practice of the law firm. As a Registered Patent Agent, she represents clients who wish to obtain patents for their inventions. She received her bachelor’s degree in biology from University of Cincinnati and her Ph.D. in biomedical sciences from Wright State University. Dr. Tung completed her postdoctoral work at the Yale University School of Medicine, and served as an Assistant Professor in medicine and oncology at the University of Rochester School of Medicine. Dr. Tung has also performed pharmaceuticals development research in the treatment of viruses, including HIV, herpes viruses, and hepatitis B virus, and for the treatment of various cancers, including breast cancer, leukemia, lymphoma, and liver cancer.
Dr. Tung is a member of the American Bar Association, the American Intellectual Property Law Association, a student member of the Maryland Bar Association, Chesapeake Regional Tech Council, and a member of the Chinese Biopharmaceutical Association, USA. Her community activities include work with the Boy Scouts, BSA Venturing Scouts, the Howard County Cold Winter Shelter, as well as being active in her church.
