Howard Community College fosters an environment that is inclusive and supportive for the constituents of its community. Differences in race, ethnicity, creed, religion, sex, color, ancestry or national origin, age, political opinion, sexual orientation, marital status, veteran status, genetic information, occupation, source of income, gender identity or expression, physical appearance, familial status, or physical or mental disability are respected. The college values equal rights, equal access, and equal treatment. Diversity is a focal concern in all aspects of the college including, but not limited to, recruitment and hiring practices, faculty and staff training opportunities, professional development offerings, selective admissions programs, student enrollment, public relations, and student activities.
Each budgeted staff member and full-time faculty member is required to participate in two diversity training sessions per year in addition to a specified number of required professional development hours as noted on employee annual plans and performance appraisals.
