The Howard Community College Board of Trustees approves the awarding of honorary degrees at Howard Community College for someone for whom the college believes this will be a meaningful honor or may be interested in entering or extending a long-term relationship with the college.  Honorary degrees will typically be bestowed at the college’s May commencement exercises.

Honorary degrees will be bestowed on deserving individuals to recognize an exceptional scholarly, intellectual, or artistic achievement; to recognize extraordinary service to the institution; or to recognize outstanding contributions to the community.

Honorary degrees will be granted to only a small number of people each year.  In some years there may be no recipients.
