The Howard Community College (HCC) library provides access to books, periodicals, and media. Access to the library's holdings is available through an online public access catalog. Numerous electronic resources are available on-campus for student and community use via the library's local area network. From off-campus, the electronic resources and online reserves are available for current HCC students and college staff via password access.
Library resources may be used or borrowed by current HCC students, faculty, staff, and Howard County residents with a valid HCC ID card, a paid alumni association membership, or a valid community resident card that is issued by the HCC library. Priority is given to HCC students, faculty, and staff. Off-campus, digital access to reserve materials and electronic resources are available to current HCC students, faculty, and staff only.
All library materials available for circulation may be checked out at the checkout desk. Users are required to have a valid HCC ID, a paid alumni association membership, or a valid community resident card with library barcode at the time of checkout.
All financial obligations to the library for fines or cost of lost and damaged materials must be met before release of grades, transcripts, or resumption of library borrowing privileges.
The college’s audio-visual (AV) services provides support for instruction and presentation through the use of AV technologies. AV services are available to HCC faculty and staff. AV equipment may be reserved using the web-based reservation on the college website or by telephone call. Limited access can also be provided for students per authorization by a faculty member for specific assignments.
