Howard Community College is committed to providing educational offerings to meet the diverse needs of the community. These offerings include career-oriented Associate of Applied Science degrees and certificates, transfer Associate of Arts and Associate of Arts in Teaching degrees, Associate of Science in Engineering degrees, and continuing education programs including workforce training. Underlying these programs is a commitment to general education including creating a dynamic and effective learning environment for students. General education goals are as follows: the student will express ideas effectively both orally and in writing; perform mathematical operations at a college level and apply these skills; value and utilize open-mindedness, inquiry, and rational assessment of data and text; display technological competence; demonstrate information literacy; demonstrate global awareness; and demonstrate a perceptual awareness of and aesthetic sensitivity to the arts.
