Adjunct faculty who teach in the credit division can teach 9 credits and/or 3 courses per semester with no more than 24 credit hours per fiscal year (July 1 – June 30).

  • Three 3-credit courses (9 credits)
  • Four 2 credit courses (8 credits)
  • Three 4-credit courses (12 credits)

If an adjunct faculty is teaching for both the credit and noncredit divisions, the teaching limit is based on hours per week (not simply credits) with the limit being 24 hours/week.  Lab assistance hours are counted as ½ of an hour (.5).

Adjunct faculty who teach both credit and noncredit courses will be expected to follow this policy and division chairs will monitor compliance.

Exceptions will only be made in unusual circumstances and will require the approval of the vice president of academic affairs.
