Howard Community College (HCC) adopts the International Association for Continuing Education and Training (IACET) definition of one Continuing Education Unit (CEU) as “ten contact hours of participation in an organized continuing education experience under responsible sponsorship, capable direction, and qualified instruction.”
Records of all CEUs are maintained by HCC and are available to students for use in educational planning, documentation of continuing qualifications, preparation for new careers, and demonstration of a conscious and persistent effort toward personal enrichment and development. CEU records provide documentation for future employers, licensing organizations, professional societies, and supervisors. Current and former students can obtain documentation of their CEUs by accessing their student records through the college website.
