Howard Community College Hosts President’s Gala on December 7

November 25, 2013

Black-tie celebration of the college’s new Health Sciences Building raises funds for college scholarships

(Columbia, MD) – Howard Community College (HCC) celebrates the opening of its new Health Sciences Building with the President’s Gala on December 7, 2013, from 7 to 11 p.m. in the building’s lobby. Presented by Hamel Builders and the Hamel Family Foundation, the black-tie affair features hors d’oeuvres, a buffet dinner, and dancing to the music of the band Radio City. Proceeds from the event benefit student scholarships through the Howard Community College Education Foundation (HCCEF), Inc., a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization.

While tickets for the event are sold out, tickets are still available for the President’s Gala raffle. Each raffle ticket purchase includes a gift bag with certificates and discounts valued at over $500 donated by local restaurants and merchants, as well as chance to win one of ten additional raffle prizes. Raffle tickets are $100 each or three for $250, and only 150 tickets will be sold. To purchase raffle tickets, visit or call the HCCEF office at 443-518-1970.

The state-of-the-art Health Sciences Building, which officially opened in January 2013, houses a wide-range of programs, including cardiovascular technology, emergency medical services, exercise science, medical laboratory technician, nursing, physical therapy assistant and radiological technology, among others. The 113,000-square-foot, $49 million building is the college’s first “green” building and LEED Silver Certification is anticipated.
