Tracy Fenney Wins Third Straight Howard Community College Columbia Classic Grand Prix

First place in the Junior/Amateur event went to Felicia Russell, and Ericka Caslin in the Child/Adult event

(Columbia, MD) – Tracy Fenney of Flower Mound, Texas, bested a field of world-class equestrians on Saturday, September 21, 2013, to win her third straight $35,000 Howard Community College (HCC) Columbia Classic Grand Prix at Marama Farm in Clarksville, Maryland. Fenney raced atop MTM Timon of MTM Farm through the jump-off course with the fastest time, earning her a $10,500 purse. Fenny also won last year’s event riding MTM Timon.

Frances Land of Alpharetta, Georgia, took home second place with a $7,700 purse riding Vieanne. Haley Schaufeld of Leesburg, Virginia, placed third riding Harley, earning a $4,550 purse.

Felicia Russell, also of Leesburg, Virginia, placed first in the $10,000 Junior/Amateur Jumper Classic, riding Habsburg 2 to a $3,000 purse. 

In a third competition, the $2,500 Child/Adult Jumper Classic, Ericka Caslin of Parkville, Maryland, took first place and a $750 purse riding Rioletto.

This year marks the 26th anniversary of the HCC Columbia Classic Grand Prix. For the fifth consecutive year, George and Marilyn Doetsch generously donated and transformed their thoroughbred breeding farm, Marama, into exquisite showgrounds for the event. Proceeds from the event provide scholarships for HCC students through the Howard Community College Educational Foundation.
