Germany’s renowned Dr. H. Thanisch Winery to be featured
(Columbia, MD) – Vino Scholastico, a distinctive wine tasting event that raises funds for Howard Community College (HCC) student scholarships, returns Friday, April 26, 2013, on the HCC campus.
Presented by MICROS Systems, Inc., the 2013 Vino Scholastico features Germany’s Dr. H. Thanisch Winery and a pre-event presentation and tasting exploring the winery’s renowned Rieslings by owner Barbara Rundquist-Muller. Based in the heart of Germany’s Mosel wine region, the wine-growing tradition of the Thanisch family can be traced back more than 350 years. Today, the winery continues to produce high-quality Rieslings and Pinot Noirs with an emphasis on sustainable and environmentally-friendly agricultural processes.
The pre-event featuring Dr. H. Thanisch Winery runs from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. in the college’s new Health Sciences Building. The main event, held from 7:30 to 10 p.m. in The Rouse Company Foundation Student Services Hall (RCF), offers tastings of numerous distinctive wines and beers, live entertainment, gourmet hors d'oeuvres, desserts, raffle prizes, and discount prices for on-site wine orders. The event seeks to meet a growing need for financial aid for HCC students by “raising a glass, raising a scholarship.”
Tickets are $50 for the pre-event, $75 for the main tasting event, and $100 for both events. Tickets are also available for designated drivers at $50. For tickets and additional information, visit www.howardcc.edu/vino or call 443-518-1970. All proceeds benefit student scholarships through the HCC Educational Foundation, Inc., a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, and are tax deductible to the extent provided by law.
