(Columbia, MD) – The Board of Trustees of Howard Community College (HCC) will hold three meetings in May 2012, beginning with a meeting of the Audit and Finance Committee on Wednesday, May 9, at 8:30 a.m. in room 120B of the Rouse Company Foundation Student Services Hall (RCF). On Wednesday, May 23, a work session and regular meeting will be held in room 400 of RCF Hall beginning at 6 p.m. A closed session will immediately follow the May 23 meeting to discuss the appointment, employment, assignment, promotion, discipline, demotion, compensation, removal, resignation, or performance evaluation of appointees, employees, or officials over whom it has jurisdiction and to discuss negotiating strategy or the contents of a bid or proposal, if public discussion or disclosure would adversely impact the ability of the public body to participate in the competitive bidding or proposal process, as permitted under Section 10-508 of the Maryland Annotated Code. Lastly, on Wednesday, May 30, a board retreat will be held in room 401 of RCF Hall beginning at 8 a.m.
Citizens who wish to present any matter of concern pertaining to the community college shall make written request to the secretary-treasurer of the board at least 72 hours prior to the regularly scheduled public meeting, in order that the matter may be included on the agenda for the meeting. In emergency situations, the board may, by a majority vote, give visitors who have not presented a written request in advance an opportunity to present their concerns to the board in any regular public meeting. The board, in recognition of the need to complete its business within reasonable time, reserves the right to terminate a presentation of this nature.
