February 17, 2012 (Columbia, MD) – A college fair for students with disabilities will be hosted by Project Access on the campus of Howard Community College (HCC) on Saturday, March 3, 2012, from noon until 3 p.m. The fair is free to attend and will be held in the Burrill Galleria of the college’s Science and Technology Building. Approximately 30 postsecondary institutions — including two and four-year colleges and career schools — will be represented by disability support service personnel and/or admissions representatives. Representatives will also attend from the Division of Rehabilitation Services and the HCC Office of Financial Aid. An ongoing Assistive Technology Demonstration will be offered. In the Career Corner, individuals in different career areas will share the strategies they have used to achieve their professional goals. Participants may also attend workshops on topics such as Project Access, federal legislation affecting postsecondary education, financial aid, postsecondary disability support service programs, career development and strategies for academic success.
