September 8, 2010 Peet Poillon proves HCC students really can “Get There From Here” (Columbia, MD) — Former Howard Community College (HCC) student athlete Peet Poillon has been named the Major League Lacrosse (MLL) 2010 Warrior Most Improved Player after leading his Chesapeake Bayhawks to the MLL Championship. “Pistol Peet” scored three goals in the title game — including two behind the back scores — earned him recognition on ESPN’s SportsCenter. For the 2010 season, Poillon ranked third in the league for most points scored. Before becoming a professional player, Poillon was captain of HCC’s lacrosse team in 2006 and 2007. During his time with the Dragons, Poillon had 58 goals and 26 assists in his freshman season for a school record 84 points. He tallied 39 goals and handed out 21 assists in his sophomore season. He led HCC to Region XX Championships in 2006 and 2007 and their first appearance in the NJCAA Semifinals in 2007. Poillon was a two time NJCAA All-American, Region XX Offensive Player of the Year and first team All-Region XX. “Peet was the leader of our team in many different ways and nobody works harder to achieve success than him,” said HCC lacrosse coach Mike Jones. “It is well deserved and we are extremely proud of him."
