
Released November 13, 2009 (Columbia, MD) An official ribbon-cutting ceremony will be held on Friday, November 13, at 4:30 p.m. celebrating the re-opening of the Howard County Center of African American Culture (HCCAAC) Adult Research Library in the college’s newly renovated James Clark, Jr. Library Hall. The ceremony will take place in the library area. With the renovations to Clark Library Hall now complete, Howard Community College is delighted to re-open this well-known and valued research library. The HCCAAC Adult Research Library contains more than six-thousand volumes related to African American culture. The repository includes historic collections of fiction, non-fiction, reference materials, and periodicals. The College and HCCAAC have common interests in providing critical educational resources to HCC students and the community. The HCCAAC moved its Adult Research Library to Howard Community College in the spring of 2003. The Howard County Center of African American Culture, Inc. is an independent, non-profit, educational organization dedicated to the collection, preservation and interpretation of the African American history and culture of Howard County and the surrounding region.
