HCC Students to Meet Their Scholarship Donors at November 11 Luncheon

Students to share how private funding helps them achieve dreams

(Columbia, MD) – The Howard Community College (HCC) Development Office and Student Services Office will host a luncheon on Wednesday, November 11, 2009 for donors and the students whom they are supporting with scholarship funds. 

The luncheon, which begins at 12 p.m. on the fourth floor of The Rouse Company Foundation Student Services Hall (RCF), gives donors the opportunity to see first-hand the results of their contributions, and affords the students a chance to meet their benefactors in person. 

Welcoming remarks will be provided by Jim Truby, chair of the HCC Board of Trustees, Dr. Kate Hetherington, president of HCC, and Michael Nagle, chair of the HCC Educational Foundation.

HCC students scheduled to speak about their experiences include:

·         Kwasi Oppong, James W. Rouse Scholars program

·         Vincent Neal, Silas Craft Collegians program

·         Suzanne Abdelazim, John G. Monteabaro Endowment

HCC’s Educational Foundation maintains endowment and scholarship programs established through generous contributions from private businesses, foundations, civic organizations, and individuals.
