HCC 2008 Commencement to be Held On Campus Friday May 16May 7, 2008
Governor O’Malley to deliver commencement address
(Columbia, MD) – Howard Community College (HCC) commencement exercises for the 37th graduating class will begin at 4 p.m. on Friday, May 16, 2008 on the campus of HCC. HCC graduates from spring 2008 and summer and fall semesters of 2007 will be awarded degrees. This year’s commencement ceremony will be dedicated to former trustee Leola Dorsey, who passed away earlier this year.
The Boyd Commencement Address will be delivered by Maryland Governor Martin O’Malley. The Graduate Address will be delivered by HCC student Amena Ali.
In recognition of significant contributions to the HCC community and students, honorary degrees will be conferred upon HCC benefactors Patrick and Jill McCuan.
The processional will include prior graduates selected as Distinguished Alumni and led by 2008 Alumnus of the Year Kevin Preston. The faculty processional will include HCC’s Outstanding Faculty Member for 2008, Professor Patrick O’Guinn of the Social Sciences/Teacher Education Division.
The commencement ceremony will be cablecast live by HCC-TV and may be viewed at HCC’s website www.howardcc.edu or Comcast of Howard County channel 71.
The 2008 Nursing Recognition Ceremony honoring HCC graduating nurses will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, May 16, on the campus of HCC.
