Interactive production is sixth original work for AC

(Columbia, MD) – Howard Community College's (HCC) Student Arts Collective (AC) presents “The Child Behind the Curtain,” an original, interactive production, directed by Susan G. Kramer, April 25 through May 11, 2008 in the Studio Theatre (formerly the Black Box Theatre) inside HCC's Peter and Elizabeth Horowitz Visual and Performing Arts Center (HVPA).  Performances on Friday and Saturday evenings begin at 8 p.m., and Saturday and Sunday performances begin at 3 p.m.  Tickets are $15 for general admission, $12 for seniors and groups, and $10 for students. "The Child Behind the Curtain" is a heartwarming family-friendly tale that travels through two very different, yet incredibly familiar worlds - the one in which we live and the one inhabited by the fairy tales and legends known to both children and adults worldwide.  An evil witch has set in motion a plan to gain her own, never-before told story, but will her devastation be stopped before the sun disappears from both worlds forever? Theatre-goers of all ages will be enthralled by the tales they know and love, and find themselves breathless as familiar characters overcome frightening obstacles with the help of the audience!  "The Child Behind the Curtain" focuses on themes of absolute innocence, compassion and imagination, as well as the powerful magic of storytelling, color, love, and faith in universal healing.

The Student Arts Collective, formerly known as Student Alumni Arts, is wrapping up its 13th season

mounting its 37th major production with “The Child Behind The Curtain” -- AC's 6th original production.  Most recent AC original projects include "Letters to S.A.N.T.A.," "Cheesy Silly Tales" and "Beyond Dick and Jane."  AC's productions often include artists from the community of all ages and experiences… from students to professionals--and all in between.  AC’s name change was inspired by the additional eclectic entities recently included in the program, such as Dance Company Concerts, Musical Theatre Revues, Original Works, Improv Groups, Open-Mic’s, Summer Programs for Teens and Pre-Teens and more.
