Citizens National Bank and HCC Partner to Provide Students with Employment Opportunities

December 1, 2006

(Columbia, MD) –  Citizens National Bank (CNB) has signed a strategic cooperation agreement with Howard Community College (HCC) designed to expand the availability of career opportunities to the students of the college.  As a premier community bank for all who value relationship banking, CNB is committed to hiring dedicated associates to deliver superior service, quality products and banking convenience.

In attendance at a December 4, 2006 signing ceremony at the college were CNB President Glenn Wilson; CNB Vice President Nancy Donohue; Executive Director HCC Educational Foundation Missy Mattey; Associate Vice President HCC Student Development Janice Marks; and Assistant Director HCC Career & Employment Counseling Tonya Osmond.

Under the agreement, CNB contributes scholarship funds to the college's educational foundation (HCCEF) for each employee successfully hired through HCC's Career and Counseling Services Office. CNB also provides the new employee with generous tuition reimbursement to continue education and professional development.  HCC keeps students and community members aware of CNB opportunities through its career resources and tools, including HCC Jobs On-line database and on-campus recruiting events.  "This is definitely a win-win arrangement," remarked President Wilson.

The recipients of the CNB scholarships will be students served by retention programs of HCC's Office of Academic Support, Counseling & Career Services.  Retention programs such as Career Links support low-income single parents, displaced homemakers and adults-in-transition by providing resources necessary for academic and employment success.
