HCC Hosts "Christmas Carols Around the World" December 15December 1, 2006
16th annual year for show featuring acclaimed soprano & Baltimore native Alina Kozinska
(Columbia, MD) –All are invited to experience the joy of Christmas music in many languages and sounds at the 16th annual performance of "Christmas Carols Around the World," authored and directed by Alina Kozinska. Howard Community College (HCC) is hosting the show for the first time on Friday, December 15, 2006 beginning at 7 p.m. in the Monteabaro Recital Hall of the Peter & Elizabeth Horowitz Visual & Performing Arts Center on the college campus.
The production features a group of professional vocalists and instrumentalists from around the world, with a repertoire of carols from many cultures and in many languages, including a narrative history. Featured performers include: Alina Kozinska, soprano; Krys Kozinski, contemporary performer; Jose Sacin, tenor; Jozef Surowiec, baritone; Erica Rome, pianist; Nancy Krebs, narrator; and a youth ensemble.
The concert director, Alina Kozinska, has performed every year since appearing as the featured soprano of the original show in 1990 at the Polish National Alliance in Fells Point. An award-winning vocalist, Kozinska has performed throughout Europe and at many major events, including the Papal Mass by Pope John Paul II in Baltimore.
Proceeds benefit the Howard Community College Educational Foundation (HCCEF). Tickets are $3 for students and $5 for non-students. Seating is limited, and will be done on a first-come-first-served basis. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. The concert is co-sponsored by HCC's Office of Student Life and the Diversity Committee.
