(Columbia, MD) – International Education Week will be celebrated at Howard Community College (HCC)  November 13 through 17, 2006 with opportunities to sample delicacies from around the world, shop at a multicultural bazaar, and armchair travel with presentations and lectures on a variety of subjects and places, including Siena's Palio horse race, China, Ghana, study abroad and international business.  Admission is free and open to the public.  Events will be located in the English, Language, Business building (ELB) on campus, unless otherwise noted.  For more information, call HCC's Office of International Education at 410-772-4229, or visit online at www.howardcc.edu/international.

Monday, Nov. 13:   12 - 1 p.m. -  “Famous Palio di Siena” – ELB Kittleman Room 100 - Luca Bonomi speaks on the historic race in the center of Siena, Italy.
2 - 3:30 p.m. - “Delicacies Around the World” – Burrill Galleria - Enjoy sweets and catch a snapshot of other cultures.

Tuesday, Nov. 14:  11 a.m. - 1 p.m. - “Learning Languages Around the World” – ELB 100 - Sample 10 different languages from around the world.
12:30 - 1:30 p.m. -  “The Challenge of China” – Brown Bag Lunch – ELB 130 - William Lowe discusses culture and linguistic challenges of living in China.

Wednesday, Nov. 15:  12 - 1 p.m. - “Focus on Ghana – Health” – Brown Bag Lunch – ELB 130 - HCC nursing faculty present their experiences on a visit to Ghana and the healthcare challenges and opportunities.
4 - 6 p.m. -  “Study Abroad Fair” – ELB 100 - Get the latest info on HCC study abroad trips and meet program directors.

Thursday, Nov. 16:  12 - 1 p.m. -  “Wal-Mart in China and Latin America” – ELB 100 - Tres Bailey, of Wal-Mart Inc. Government Relations reports on their internationalization.
1:15 - 2:30 p.m.  - “Presidential Dialogue” – N105

Friday, Nov. 17:  9 a.m. - 1 p.m. -  “Multicultural Bazaar” – Burrill Galleria - All proceeds go to Study Abroad Scholarships. Donate items at ELB 139.
