Project Access of HCC Hosts November 13 Workshop Brunch on Anxiety Disorders in StudentsOctober 11, 2006

(Columbia, MD) – Project Access of Howard Community College (HCC), a program to facilitate the transition and retention of high school students with disabilities into postsecondary education, is hosting another enlightening professional development event on Monday, November 13, 2006 at HCC's Charles I. Ecker Business Training Center (BTC) in Room 6 from 9:30 a.m. - 12 noon. Workshop participants will have the opportunity to learn about the etiology, characteristics and treatment of anxiety disorders experienced by high school and college students. Attention will be paid to finding the best way for parents, teachers and other professionals to interact effectively with these students. The workshop presenter, Roma Vasa, M.D., is medical director of the Outpatient Psychiatry Clinic at Kennedy Krieger Institute, an assistant professor of psychiatry at Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine, and author of numerous journal articles focusing on anxiety disorders. Cost of the workshop, which includes brunch, is $35 until November 6 and $40 thereafter. CEUs are available. Funds raised are applied toward Project Access operating expenses.
